OooKKK what do I use to make a popup window in SS. I've looked through all the tabs and there is nothing stating popup window anywhere. Unless I'm missing something.

Hi Jeannine, I suspect that you are missing something.

A popup window is normally used to display a full sized image of a thumbnail. To do that, you need a link on the thumbnail.

Soooo, right click the thumbnail and select “Edit Link”.

In the Link Editor, there is a checkbox “Pop up full sized image”.

And if you want more than just an image in your popup window, see here.

Ok I'll try these and see what happens. I'm hoping it works so it can save space on the page.

Thank you so much.

Ok I was looking at the info you gave me on how to make a popup window for text. It's a good idea but I have a question. Do I add a new page for each text window? If that's the case then I will get lost because right now I may have just 2 books on my site but later I will have hundreds of books on my site. And adding a new page per book is going to take a lot of pages. Also I noticed you using coding. I'm sorry but I am completely brain dead when it comes to coding. That's why I bought this software so I wouldn't have to use coding. Is there another way? I can do links, but coding I'm dead. Confused Eek

I thought your original post may heave been slightly more involved than a normal pop-up of an image.

By the sounds of what you want to achieve, it is beyond SS’s standard capabilities. And yes, it will involve getting your hands dirty and involve some code.

But don’t fret, that is what this forum is all about. We are here to help one another.

You will need to tell us exactly (or close to) what type of pop-up you want.

Do you have a text or image link for the pop-up to result from.

What should the pop-up contain? Just a text description, or an enlarged image of the book, or both.

As your books will seem to populate, would you rather a category choice from the pop-up.

You could create a descriptive pop-up of each book, or a slide show of each category.

The choices are endless, and there are hundreds of variations you can use, all usable within SS with more ease than you think.

For more assistance, please re-post.

I think it will be hard to avoid having a separate small page for each book. If you don't want popups, you could use an i-frame (embedding the book info within your page). But both popups and i-frames would require separate pages.

Yet another option is to have really long pages (which I know you don't want) and to use bookmarks to jump to the book of interest.

Ok How about this: Is there a way to put a link within the image? More like instead of having a BUY NOW link, to just put the link in the image that will take the people to the author's book to where it would have a small description of the book plus be able to buy the book if they want at the same time. My BUY NOW link takes my book to the publishers website where it shows a small description of my book, and has a BUY NOW button right there too on the publisher's website. So this way to save space and pages on my site and also for people to click on the image of the book to go straight to the main details. I can tell the author's to send me a image of their book and a link with details and where to buy their books. Then I would just have to type in the details for the people to click on the image for details. Would this work? Can I have a link within the image?

You can wrap an image within a link. If you double-click the image, the Object Editor should open. Go to the Link tab and enter the link info for the image. If you want the link to open in a new browser window (so the visitor does not leave you site), check the Open in new window option.
