What is the easiest way to publish remotely from another computer, which did not create working .ims file? After I transferred the SS file from one computer to another, the directory is in a confusing state. The associated image with the object is no longer recognized and the same with .js text files, which are still referred to the old computer file directory.
Additionally, I cannot connect to the server with FTP login data that was available with the old computer setup. TS |

If you save your project with the Relative Directory Paths options, that should allow you to transfer the project to the other computer. You will need to transfer your images too, as they are not built into your project file.
If you copy the ftppro.ini file across too, that should guarantee that your login details are the same, assuming you saved the password. Of course on another computer, there are external factors that may be getting in the way, like firewalls and a different internet connection. If that doesn't help, can you give details of the error message? There might be some clues in the Publish tutorial too. |

Thanks the links, Bruce. Reworking the new directory path for the images was not difficult, I‘ve been using relative directory paths to save ims projects, anyways. Yet, I didn’t realize that some internal image objects, derived from SS templates, were associated with Geometry Editor. I still have a problem, though, I can’t publish with the same setting on Vista X64 the way I can publish on Win XP. I disabled firewall and I deleted all unnecessary previously transferred files via FTP. What do you mean by copying across the ftppro.ini file? I searched for it inside of “My IMS Projects” folder, but I could not find it. TS This message has been edited. Last edited by: ks47, |

Update… Thanks again pointing me in the right direction, Bruce. I finally go it working. In Window Vista X64, USER FILE is located in ROAMING; it’s little different than Win XP. (I’m not sure if SS has updated this information in newer versions.)
I had a little tough time because I partitioned the Vista boot drive and backed up all my files from XP to a new partitioned location. I checked both ftppro.ini in XP and Vista and modified entry as appropriate. That did the trick. TS |
