On your index page, I think the View Cart button could be better placed; having it located in your banner is a bit unattractive. The "Miniature 1910 Kitchen" image has no link.
I'm not fond of the page links titled with your other page names ("Christmas Past", "Christmas Merrymaking", etc) that take me back to your home page. You should have buttons labeled "Home" to do this so I know where those links really go. Check the Page Editor->Title. Meta Tags Page Title field for all your pages. Some of the titles contain both the default SS page name and your page titles. On the "Mother Goose of Yesteryear" page, the Add to Cart button lays on top of your image. There is also what appears to be a link ("see ordering information") that goes nowhere. Most of your pages seem to be a bit too long and contain a lot a blank area under the page's content. On page 4 of your paintings, the Back button does not take me back, it takes me home. Same with page 2 of your Crafts pages. On these pages, there is no way to get back to previous pages; it looks like I have to go back to your home page, then re-navigate to the desired page. I feel there should be a better division between the links on your home page. Some links take me to items you are selling, other links take me to pages of items you are not selling. You have done job of integrating PayPal into your site. I would like to see a running summary of items in my cart rather than bouncing back and forth between your site and PayPal, but I have no idea if this is possible. If it can be done, you seem to have the screen real estate on the right side of your pages to do this. |

Hi Barbara,
As Larry already covered several aspects of the functionality I can just add some suggestions from the design perspective. 1.My first suggestion would be to center all pages horizontally. That might create a more balanced feel. 2. In order to create consistency for the visitors, I would suggest a navigation present on all pages with access to the main sections of the website. At the moment I don't have a feel of a clear structure. You could create seven main sections: Home, About me, Books, Paintings, Crafts, Miniatures, Contact me. 3. Personally I would use a gradient radial colouring on the background (white/your bg colour)and apply the same colour as your title for the outline and page bg. It'softer than the black outline. 4. For more personal touch I would change the font for your name to some kind of hand written font (e.g. English Script). Sometimes it's easier to show the suggestions rather than describe them. You can have a look at a draft here with some of the suggestions implemented. Hope this helps. |

I want to thank you and Larry so much for all your suggestions. I have changed most of the things Larry suggested so far. Now I can redo the design. Klimt can I redo my site to include your ideas or design if I can figure it all out? It is beautiful and so professional. Again, thank you so much! Kudo's are in order for Klimt and Larry.

Hi Barbara,
Instead of figuring it out you are welcome to download the SS file here. The remade images you can either save from the site or if you provide me your e-mail address I can send them to you. My e-mail is in my public profile. |
