Curious as to why some of my pages have %20 as part of the url address. Could someone please enlighten me on this?
Many Thx Mark www.podiumpaintball.net |

The %20 is the web interpretation of a space.
A page named “My Page” will appear as “My%20Page” in the URL, whereas “MyPage” will appear correctly. The same applies to folder and sub-folder names. |

Will putting a "-" fix this eg. instead of "MY Page" put "MY-Page"?
I want to know cause I keep getting this in my image properties aswell, and I'm wondering if it has any affect on image indexing in the search engines. Thanks. |

Generally you shouldn't use spaces in file or page names -- they can cause problems under some conditions.
My preference is Camel capitals e.g. "MyPage". Concise but still readable. The underscore is also acceptable as in "My_Page". I'm not so sure about the dash though as in "My-Page". |

When it comes to search engine queries I think an underscore (_) is seen as a connector eg. "My_Page" is the same a "MyPage".
But a Hyphen (-) is seen as a separator eg. "My-Page" is the same as "My Page". So for picture indexing, say in Google images "My_Image" may only get found under the query "myimage" or "my_image" but "My-Image" my get found using the queries "my image", "my" and "Image" Of course this difference will only be minor because your real ranking is going to come from the meta tags, relevance of your back links and the content your page or picture has. Who knows, These are just some thoughts. Cheers. |

I really don’t think the search engines differ as to hyphen and/or underscore, and nor should they.
In practically all computer languages, an underscore is used in place of spaces, and a hyphen is used as, well, a hyphen. And yes thanks Roma. My fiancé and myself enjoyed a well earned (though very brief) rest. |
