I presently have Site Spinner V2.50f and I want to begin building a new web site.

I'm am more than a little confused about the difference between Site Spinner, Site Spinner Pro and Web Engine. Are these the same programs, different versions or totally different? If you have Web Engine do you still run Site Spinner?...or Site Spinner Pro? I am interested in upgrading if they are really upgrades.

Should I just totally uninstall present version and purchase Web Engine or just upgrade to newest version of Site Spinner or are they the same thing? I read that you can purchase Web Engine and get Site Spinner free, why would you want both?

Thank you.

The latest SiteSpinner version is 2.7f. WebEngine is SiteSpinner with extensions to allow you to develop DHTML animations and special effects for your project. SiteSpinner Pro is currently in beta testing and should not be used for a production web site. When it is released as a commercial product, it will replace WebEngine.

Warning: Project files created with SS Pro can only be used with that program. Older projects can be read with SS Pro, but if saved in the new SS Pro file format, they can no longer be used with SiteSpinner or WebEngine.

You should be able to upgrade easily from SS 2.5 to 2.7f, but make copies of your projects and publishing profile before upgrading in case anything goes wrong.

WebEngine and SS Pro can be installed on the same computer along with SS, but only one can be set as the default program to open the IMS file type the programs use. All programs can be opened at the same time using different projects, but you cannot copy&paste objects between them.

If you upgrade to WebEngine now, I believe that when SS Pro is released, that will be a free upgrade. I do not work for VM, so do not quote me on that (my current WE registration key unlocked the SS Pro beta version).

Buying WebEngine to get a free copy of SiteSpinner is a marketing hook. Or VM has so many extra copies they would rather give them to customers than play frisbee with the disks.

thanks larryd.

I may go on with Web Engine, hope I don't have trouble installing because I had a problem before with the dll file when upgrading.

So if I go with Web Engine, I have basically have Site Spinner with additional capability. Web Engine not lacking anything that Site Spinner has.

Neat website you have, I like some of those templates.
