My web space is very full after creating my site with Site Spinner ploucherpainting.com I am using Ipswitch WS FTP Professional to manage my space. My question is when I publish or update my site, are the files with an older date unused? can I delete them without affecting my site?

When you upload files with the same name, the newer files will overwrite the older existing files.

If you are modifying your project's images and republishing, then you could be creating additional files in the geometry and/or image folders. SiteSpinner will not delete previously published image files if the file name has changed. For example, if you have deleted an image and added a new one, the old image file will remain on your site. To clean these folders, use WS_FTP to delete their contents and republish your entire project.

This concept will also apply if you are dropping old project pages and adding new ones. SS will not delete any previously HTML page if it is no longer part of the project. You will need to delete the pages manually or delete all the .html files from your root and republish the entire project.

If you use WS_FTP to upload your files and you are seeing the same DTG stamps on the files, make sure the option to preserve the date/time is off to reflect the values of the newer files.

If the new pages (html files) have the same names as the old ones, uploading the new pages should overwrite the ols pages. If you upload new pages with new names you can delete the old pages if you know that there are not linked to from the new pages. If you mean external files like media, images etc make sure that those files are not used on any of the new pages before deleting them.

Yet again, sorry Larry, we posted obviously at the same time.
