Confused You all are great here. I read though the topics about importing code to SS.

I have pages I built in FP2000. My products in FP are placed in tables built within FP.(see code below)

The "product table" has these components (each within a cell of each mini-table) Each mini- table has: a jpeg photo of the product; a Short Title of the product; a detailed item description; a price; and a "add to shopping cart" cell.

What am I not understanding? Here is the code for a single product Battery

<td width="2%"></td>
<td valign="top" width="42%">
<table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" width="100%">
<tr>
<td width="100%">
<table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" width="100%" height="2576">
<tr>
<td width="100%" style="border-style: solid; border-color: #99CCFF" height="187">
<table border="1" cellspacing="1" width="347" bgcolor="#CDE6FF" bordercolor="#CDE6FF" bordercolorlight="#CDE6FF" bordercolordark="#CDE6FF">
<tr>
<td rowspan="3" align="center" valign="middle" width="98" height="119"><font size="-1">CI-DB53458</font><br><img border="0" src="CI-DB53458.JPG" width="100" height="89"><br><font size="-1">(View Details)</font></td>
<td width="155" height="44"><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="+1">Battery
47-58</font>
</td>

OK,and then the next product is displayed. The products (mini tables)are layed on top of a table and inserted in that tables "rows" on the main body of the page. And thses mini-tables are arranged in two vertical columns side by side.

I hope you can visualize it. Wink Any help is appreciated. Richard

Are you asking if you can put a table within a table using SS? Yes you can. Just drag the 2nd table into a cell of the first table. (And drag a 3rd into the 2nd, a 4th into the 3rd, etc.)

Larry,

I have lots of products in my Front Page 2000 web site. What I am asking is, can I "select" and "copy" a table from Front Page style sheet and "paste" in the working area of SS 2.7?

Or is that not possible?

If the code example you gave is what you want, then try pasting it inside a code object. It won't render as a table until you preview/publish the page.

The only way to create the table visually in SS is to build the table using the SS table tool and then populate the cells. Obviously this is more work, but would be easier for you to maintain.

Pasting the FP2000 tables as code objects would be faster, but is harder to maintain unless you know how to code in HTML.

Larry, Thanks for the reply. By the way, I was on your site.... your email link "webmaster" does not work? Here is the message aI got bounced back.

Larry,

Nice web site! I wish I could pay you to do mine! LOL

I will play around with the tables and see what works.

One thing, I did try the code object insert. But since I do not have a way to publish (yet) I tried to "preview" BUT IT NEVER came up??? Just sat in dead mode??

PS: I see you live in the Carolina's...? Are you post military by chance?

I pasted the sample code you gave and got the text in a table to preview. Naturally, the image didn't appear since I don't have it. At a minimum you should have seen a box with a blue border about 2576 pixels high.

After looking at the FP code, I think you would be much happier converting to SS tables. If all the width and height settings used by the sample code is any indication, the only way the FP code would look good under SS is to paste the entire FP body into a code object! Not a very good use of SS.

Thanks for the site feedback. I had a typo in my email address; should be fixed now. Actually I'm in FL, and am USAF (ret).

Thanks Larry. Yeah since I have gotten better aquainted with SS, I am convinced it will do better for me to just follow along the guides you fellows are providing (so graciously), and keep building the whole site over again in SS.

Where in Florida? I am ex-ArmyCorp of Engineers (civilian/Fed employee) Worked at Ellsworth, K.I. Sawyer and Pope AFB to name the Airforce locations I was employed at.

Nice to meet you. (I can't believe for a minute that you really look like your Avaitar - only a marine could be tha homely! )
