If i make a webpage with an object (obj06) holding a jpg image and the image file path is: http:\\tr-revi.dk\vamdrup\image\IMG_0846.jpg and a link to another file is C:\webs\Vamdrup\jubi08\6juli2008.pdf

then it in SS tells me: Image not found (and that's OK)

If I then make an upload to the web with "Gather all files" then the object is:

<div id="Oobj06">
<a href="6juli2008.pdf" target="_blank"><img name="Ggeo90" src="./image/obj06geo90pg1p20.jpg" alt="" border = "0" width="140" height="110"></a>
</div>

In the help screen there is nothing told that the imageadress needs to be a valid map on the computer holding the image.

I am using ss 2.70f

If the is more than one webmaster and we all have our own projects, then it would be nice if a picture is changed in the header of the web, then all the others webmasters did not need to do anything.

As I see it the master webmaster have to send the jpg file to every webmaster and ask them to change the header of there projects.

Is the a way around this?

Hej Per,
You can read in this thread how Larry and I have co-operated on the same projects. There are some minor things that make it work smoother. If you and the other webmasters save your project images and external media folders under C:/ using relative directory path then you shouldn't have any issues. If you don't have Office 2007 with those applications you could try Live Mesh (it's free), upload the project with all the necessary files there and allow the others access. Naturally you'll need to update/synchronise the project whenever any changes are made to it. Hope this helps.

Alternatively, simply have a common folder of images and documents with common and understood by all names: eg. img-banner-main.jpg

In every website you have that filename for the main banner, master webmaster changes the image and it changes everywhere instantly. No downloads, no installs, all you need is photoshop and ftp

Background to this suggestion: I webmaster a major site that is part of a european network of websites where 22 or so webmasters utilise a common or transverse set of images that are common to all websites such as banners, icons, block headers etc. This ensures a consistent brand image.

Only the chef-des-webmasters can change these images and of course he has to be certain of the effects of changing said image lest it mess up all the sites layouts. This has never been an issue.

We don't use any programs such as those suggested for this. No synchronisation or anything like that. I don't have an issue with any of the progs btw.

The effects for you are that in your .ims, you'd have an absolute path to the appropriate image. You will only see that image in preview of course, not in the design file and only if you have internet access and for more complicated content you could use an iframe to load that content.

Using a transversal folder of images works just fine for my 21 colleagues and I.

Bonne chance
