Ok, I'm going to take a deep breath here and attempt this slide show. Hopefully it'll come out like DB's if I get it right. Without having to download a zip and trying to work with that.

Thanks, btw for answering me in email. I will try this. Can't promise myself anything.

You're asking for an idiot's guide to an idiot's guide. Smile

If there is something in there you don't understand, it is because I have not explained clearly enough. Could you ask a more specific question about your problem(s)? If you can, post a test page somewhere -- that would help too.

I suggest you start with standard mouseovers. They are easier to do, and give you a stepping stone into the trickier stuff.

Edit: Updated link. Also, the new URL of these demos is now http://bruceee.com/SS/ (Thanks to VM!)

Yep that's about the truth of it. Roll Eyes

I think I'm doing something wrong with the JavaScript, probably putting it in the wrong place, etc. All that happens on the preview is the standard mouseover that can be done direct with SiteSpinner. Unfortunately my web servere won't let me on at the moment (maintenance or something)so I can't post a test page.

I've designed my site with the simple mouseover for now, but it would be nice to learn how to do the other for future. Guess I should learn to walk before I try running!! Wink

The simple mouseover is a good start. When you can post a test page, I'll take a look at your mouseover clickover.

Hello everyone.

I'm as green as you can get with this web building software. Bruceee's page is very usefull, thanks for the help.

What I need is to make a page where the person loged on can type in their info. ie. first & last names, addresses among other things. Once filled out, they hit the submit button and I get an email with their info.

I just went through one of these pages to register for this forum.

I also need to know how can I keep my banner ontop of the foreign linked pages when they go through my site to get there.

Please help.

Thanks.

if you want a login script etc.
You will need to manual code, you can download the script and just install it but i do not reccomend that. I have just the other day found a brilliant tutorial*.

http://www.xeweb.net/tutorials/user_system/ < check it out

*requires the ablility to set up and mysql database with a php enabled server (if your paying for hosting than its almost certain you have these)

I'm very new to buttons. I copied a mouseover button from the clipart button template file and it works fine. However, after I included a new page, the mouseover effect of the buttons in the new page doesn't work anymore. It only works in the original page. How do I solve this problem? Thanks.

There is a bug report here and possible workaround. Let's know if that works.

BTW -- which template and button are you using?

Thanks for highlighting to me that there may be a previously reported bug.

I use the green button from the clipart folder template buttons_rectangular.ims. This is the site I'm working on, http://www.kprbc.org.sg/kindy (still work in progress)

I set the buttons to be included on page copy. The problem is when I copy and paste a new page, the mouseover effects doesn't work anymore in the new page. The only way I can get round this is to cut away all the buttons in the new page, and then go to the original page to include each button manually again.

Yes that is the bug Bruceee was taliking about. The workaround is as you describe. Alternatlely, you can also select the buttons as a group on one page and paste them onto the new page.

Thanks, I can live with this workaround. BTW, what's the easiest way to select a bunch of stacked objects in order to group them? I hold down the ctrl key and click on the objects but I find that the order of the objects become reversed if I do that. I think I'm doing it the wrong way. What is the correct way?

Try a marquee selection -- drag the mouse to make a box around the stack.
