Thank you Klimt. I tried your suggested AM-Deadlink program and that worked very well for me on my IE6 favorites. I've never seen so many favicons!

I've got a feeling deleting cookies (or clearing your cache) might zap favicons, so running this program afterwards should fix the problem.

Does this program help with your IE7 problem?

Hi Bruceee,
It seems so, occasionally one or another favicon can get lost but most seem to stay there, never happened before, so I am quite pleased for now Smile

You seem to have the code in two places, both in header and in body section but I don't see the favicon.ico file. Did you uploaded it as a Foreign Object (Publish File Format)? The code you placed in the body section should be in the header and you don't need a code in body section.

Thanks Bruceee! Following your tip to add the Link Rel line, I was able to add an icon to the address bar. I used snagit from techsmith to create my icon. Snagit comes with an editor that allows you to open whatever format you want and save as another. So, I opened my .jpeg file and saved it as a .ico.

Here is a corrected link to the Microsoft Web Site. The one above has a full stop on the end which makes it not work -- at least in IE6.

I also suggest this as a better alternative: Instead of using the whole code block as shown on the Microsoft site, use just this part of it as a custom header in SiteSpinner (Page Editor > Header tab)
<LINK REL="SHORTCUT ICON" HREF="http://www.mydomain.com/myicon.ico">
This may not work any better for you, but should be a step in the right direction.

For Voice23,
Thanks for the post, and sorry I haven't looked closely at it until now. This is a difficult issue -- if anyone can solve it, it would be a MIRACLE(!!!) and you would be a HERO(!!!) forever. Big Grin Big Grin
