I am loving this program. It can do so many things I have never seen before - at least not able to be done so easily.

Small requests - apologies if already made or feature exists already. I am a newbie to this program and at your mercy:

Text editor:

Cheeky one - would be nice to do live typing on the page instead of in the text editor. I know - a big luxury.

Font list - mine shows all incarnations of a font - such as Greek, Western etc. Would be nice if it were sensitive just to my own language - the list is becoming very long. I may have missed a setting somewhere.

Ability to set paragraph formatting - such as different paragraph spacing. I like to read webs at 1.5 lines.

Thanks!

Ali

Hi Ali,

re: 'typing on the page'. Yes, that is on our list.

re: 'font list'. SiteSpinner displays whatever fonts you have on your system. Unfortunately there is no way for SiteSpinner to know which you might want and which you don't, so any that you have installed will be displayed.

re: 'paragraph spacing'. Yes, that is on our list also.

Thanks for the feedback.

Derry, re the font list:

For most Text Editor operations, we should be using web-safe fonts -- even if we don't know it! For this reason, displaying only web-safe fonts in the font list would be a useful option and may satisfy Alijazz too.

Yes, but if only WS fonts were shown, what if I wanted to make a title object using a non websafe font? Where would I pull that font from? I like it that sitespinner shows WS by each font that is websafe. If there was a way to make them all green while making the others red and then in bold on the font chooser screen have a disclaimer- that would be helpful to those who don't know. Or even better, the first time one brings up the text editor, show a pop-up explaining the green and red fonts.

Keep in mind that if I were creating an Intranet site, I may have a special font that I know others have. Or, I may not care what Mac/Linux users have on their systems, etc.

You guys don't like the 'ws' next to the fonts Eek?

No, I like WS next to the font. It just took me a while to notice that it was there next to some fonts. That is why I recommended color-coding the font list.

Hello everybody

Sorry not to have been around. I fell into a black hole created by Windows Update. Odd how much you take Windows Explorer for granted until it decides IT WILL NEVER WORK AGAIN FOR YOU AS LONG AS YOU LIVE and you are forced to trash a whole PC and bring it back up while crying buckets into its circuitry. I hope none of you are caught by this dreadful thing.

Anyway.... part of my problem has been solved by reading the manual. I must have ticked the setting to show all languages at some point. Life is a lot clearer now Wink

Thanks for the info re the features. I've been designing for so long that I know web safe fonts off by heart, but I think the WS is handy for someone who doesn't know. And for me, too, for when I go senile from suffering from corrupt Windows updates!

Good to hear that so many fab features are under consideration. Interestingly, the more I get used to Sitespinner the less I worry about the text being in a text editor. I think I wouldn't mind it at all if there were the extra features mentioned above.

Night night all.

Ali

For title objects, the font list should stay as at present -- for titles, which create image files, you can use any font you like. Notice that the font list for titles does not show the little green WS as it is irrelevant.

For text objects, and form objects too, you normally should restrict yourself to fonts that your visitor is likely to have -- that means web-safe (WS) fonts. That is where I would like to see the option to restrict the font list to WS only. I stress an option, because there will be occasions as Derry mentioned where you want non-WS. I use Arial and Verdana, at opposite ends of the font list, have to scroll each time to switch from one to another. My font list seems to have grown recently too -- have been trialling the new MS Office, and I'll blame that.

Derry, I too like the WS next to text fonts.

I like the option idea; that way the user has a choice what to show based on his/her own needs.

I would also like to see an MRU list at the top of the font list so the most often used fonts (with their last size settings) are readily available.

Not sure if anyone has suggested this, but also a first letter search thingie. So that if you press V the font goes to the first font beginning with V etc.

The idea of most used is v good.

Ali, if you open the font list, then hit the first letter, it will jump to the first font name with that letter. It would be nice to just type the first letter in the box and have the font list automatically open to the correct position.

Hi Larry

I am pretty sure mine doesn't do it every time (although it is my usual thing - request a feature that already exists!) because I find myself constantly trying to remember the correct names of fonts to type in to try and speed up workflow. I will pay more attention now and see exactly what is happening.

If you type in the first few characters it should find the first match when you leave the font box.

Hi Harpo

Thanks for that. I absolutely didn't know that. Auto completion normally happens as you are typing. I didn't know you had to click out of the box to see the font.

That will speed things up.

Thanks again.
