Hi,
In a lot of programs there exists a Auto-save function.
In my opinion it would be a very good feature to have a auto-save function for the IMS-file.
Sometimes you forget saving and then there is a risk you loss your work when your PC crashes or other Mad things happen

Hi A.B.C.,

I am sure this has come up, but I don't recall what the result was either for or against. In either case I'll pass it on. In the meantime it can help to get into the habit of pressing Ctrl + s on your keyboard with your left hand from time to time if you are worried about losing work.

I think auto-save can be a mixed blessing.

You don't want it to save to the same location as CTRL+S. For example, spend half-an-hour adding a new feature to your site, realize you have completely screwed up, so decide to start again. Ooops can't do it -- auto-save has overwritten your last good copy Frown

At the same time, it has to be smart enough to help the user recover the auto-saved copy on start up. I remember a certain word-processor that had auto-save -- but it was a big struggle to find out where it had auto-saved to Smile

If those problems could be overcome, auto-save would be a useful addition. And it would stop review sites like this one marking down SS and WE for "no Automatic File Backup". Clearly the auto-save on publish that already exists does not count for even a half-mark Smile
