I have compiled a list of requests for Site Spinner. These are things I have found to be either bugs or missing features I would like to see added. I posted them on a web page with examples:

http://www.stopgreenpath.com/ss_suggestions.html

Thank you for this great product, and I look forward to using the much anticipated final release of SS Pro. Keep up the great work!

Thanks for the list Jim. The developers have it now. They all seem like good ideas to me. Some, of course, are more difficult to implement than others.

A couple of comments/questions:

#3 "No right click" feature. You can of course, add your own code to do this to the page’s header but a checkbox option would make it easier. Personally I am not sure how well that sort of code works. It seems there are usually and easy work-around. Dragging the image off the page for example.

#6 Do you see this problem with images other than gif’s? Can you post an example?

#5 Having the option to use pixels instead of percentages for scaling make sense but keep in mind that only the re-rendered image size changes in SiteSpinner. The original image does not change so its size does not change either. That is why the geometry size edit box does not change for an image.

#9 An option similar to this exists but it is perhaps more limited than what you describe. It is the Foreign Object ‘Publish File’ format.

#10 Keep in mind that you can add code to different locations using the code editor is SS using the BEFOREBODY etc. Names (search help for beforebody for details) or in future versions (e.g SSPro ) using the droplist of locations.

#12 You can adjust a individual link’s underline and color in the text editor’s link editor. That may do some of what you want.

Thank you for replying Harpo.I really appreciate you forwarding the suggestions.

On #5, couldn't a second set of value windows be available for the re-rendered version of a graphic? I guess where I'm hung up is on the percentage only method to resize a graphic. If I import an image that is 1056 pixels wide, and I need to make it 370 pixels wide, I either need to use a calculator (which tells me I need to reduce to 35.03786%), or drag the sides in to get it close by eye. There is nothing in SS that I can find that tells me where I'm at, and how much farther I need to go. The only way I can figure to achieve this is to draw a second object at the desired geometry (using the geometry values windows), select both the object and the graphic, then use the "make selected objects the same width or height. Showing seperate values and making them adjustable (like other builders) solves all this.

On #9, I guess I could do it this way, but I would have to import each file independently, and would end up with multiple foreign objects on my work page just to get a flash form to view and upload. Just the form alone contains 5 separate files, in addition to the work page html file. You are right. This way is too limited. An option to add files from the drive to the preview or upload folder would really make SS life much easier.

On #10, the new placement feature in the SS Pro code editor is a great improvement. I love it, but it falls short in that you end up with code boxes on your work page just to add page code. Since header code can be added without using code boxes on the page (SS page editor), why not allow additional page html to be added in various locations the same way? I use the "add a code editor to page" process now, but just think of how much nicer it would be not to have to.

On #12, The current link underline options do not do what I need. If I want some links to show underlined and some not in regular non-hovered over view, I cannot get them all to underline in hover-over. Checking the "do not underline" option in each individual link editor shuts off underline for unvisited, visited, selected, and hovered. Currently I have to add css code to the page to underline all hover-overs while leaving most of the links not underlined, and add more code to identify certain links that I do want underlined in non-hover. The example I gave from another page builder at least offers the option to turn the underline feature on or off for unvisited, hover-over, and visited individually. This would eliminate the need to add code to the page in many situations. SS could go even further and allow full flexibility of color and underline options for each action of every link individually, and would really make SS exceptional.

Thank you again for reviewing these suggestions and forwarding them.

Yes it could. With these comments I was pointing out what is in place right now.

Did you get a chance to look at item #6?

Hi Harpo

I did several experiments with different types of graphics. My findings are similar to Larry's. The best results are achieved when downsizing the graphic (any format) in a graphics editor first, saving to the drive, then applying to the SS workpage already reduced. Surprisingly, Paint.net provided the best results overall, in all formats. When using SS to resize, PNG was very good (although not quite as good as Paint.net), while gif was the worst. Bmp and jpeg also did fairly well in SS, but not as good as png.

This raises a question. Does SS publish (upload) the full size graphic to the server, even if it is reduced in size on the SS workpage beforehand? I am assuming so, since the graphic is not resampled. If so, wouldn't it be advantageous to resize in an external editor and then add to the SS workpage? This would cut down on server space use, and reduce the publishing time because of the smaller size graphics. Let me know what you think. Thank you.

For your second point, if the full size is not required on your site, then SiteSpinner will not upload the full size image. It will upload only the reduced size image(s) that SS itself has created from the original.

But even so, it can still be advantageous to resize beforehand. If SiteSpinner has to do a lot of image resizing from say large digital camera images, it can make for a sluggish or very slow project. This resizing can happen each time you scroll the workpage or switch pages.

Thank you for explaining that Bruceee. Then being able to resample graphics after they are reduced in SS seems even more called for in light of this.

I've uploaded some info regarding my other request for more flexibility in page link attributes. I would like to see SS add color, underline, bold, and italic options to each link seperately, and for each link state. In this example, the program allows the user to build different link profiles, and then assign any of the profiles to the link. I use this program when different link profiles are called for on the same page.

I hope Harpo gets this and also forwards this to the VM programmers. The page is:

Thank you

Jim
