I paid for SS and liked it at first. When did I STOP liking it? When it takes FOREVER to upload one page that I make one little change on. Why does it take forever? The FTP program built into SS is the lamest in the world. I have to use FTPRush to send anything bigger than a page. Other issues exist...

For a program that depends so heavily on the built-in text editor, it should at least work as well as Notepad, which it doesn't. Highlighting text is a nightmare, and usually takes a lot longer than it should.

My problems with SS started mostly when I started to move blocks of objects from one page to another...jeezuz, I never dreamed this would be so much work. I spend a lot longer on maintenance to a website than I do creating the initial design!

I'm going back to NOF, which I also bought. IT sucks in it's own way, but one thing that I need that SS can't give me... I can upload ONLY changes, and don't have to upload the whole page....sheesh

Sorry that you are not happy. I will pass this on to the developers.

One this to keep in mind is that SiteSpinner will let you upload only one page at a time. If you your pages are large enough that it is a problem for you to upload you may find your viewers are having the same problem when downloading your page.

My sites are not as big as 600 pages but this is what I do when I am updateing.

Firstly, I do not use the SS in-built FTP. I use Cute FTP and I publish projects to file.

If I make any changes on pages I make a note of what I have done. If I have added any objects these are also noted.

I open up Cute FTP and then transfer each new object accross and the appropriate HTML file.

This process, for my sites, takes only a few minutes to do.

Also, every now and then I wipe out all the files with my host and do a complete upload. This eliminates any reducntant files and saves space.

yeh....i agree cute ftp is very effective
Maybe virtual mechanics could think about changing the built in ftp to a more robust design such as cute ftp

also....while your uploading...did you ever think to go do something, such as make a drink instead of watching you pc (geeze, no common sense)
ok that was a bit slaggy (sorry)
but site spinner is truly amazing software for its price, you cannot find anything as good as this for the same price.
If your website takes forever to upload did you ever think that for your users it may take forever to download?
and you do know about the include on all pages feature....right?
personally i don't think its the software thats the problem, i think its the way you design your site.
Plus if it was truly bad software where are all the complaints, and as this is a complaint wouldn't virtual mechanics delete it if they had something to hide?

I have had this program for about a year now and every other comment is true about this software being the best value for it's price [B]nothing comes close[/B. I have had some slow uploads for some bigger sites, but I look at what I paid, all the features site spinner does offer, the endless help supplied by this forum and the moderators, then think to myself is a slower upload really that bad. By the time I come up with the answer the upload is done. So if the upload is reaaly that slow in your oppinion, do as previously mentioned make yourself a drink, then I say pull out your credit card and buy yourself an ftp program you think will better suit your needs. Cheers.

PC Guy,

Your comments are not shared by everyone. SiteSpinner is the bargain of the century.

O.k., Podge, you do a lot of good on this site. With that said, I like you. Your Avatar?????????
Is that really necessary? Am I missing something? I most certainly know what it looks like, and I don't want my kids seeing this.
Educational purchases are not going to happen if
the people in charge see this. If my kids were using Site Spinner at school, my first reaction would be YEAH!!! Then, if I saw your Avatar, I would be writing the Superintendent to have Site Spinner removed.
Just an observation.

Hi Corey,

It seems to be two bullets. Is that what you object to? or do you see something I don't see.

it is three bullets, and 2 of them are in wiremesh format. It is the best picture i have ever made on a computer so i would be upset to have to remove it. How is it offensive? It does not encourage violence in any way. Your kids watch cartoons a my god they are violent. Roadrunner crushes someone in almost every episode. My avatar is less violent than that.
Also whats a "Superintendent" ?

I took Podge's avatar to be a candle. Then when I saw Corey's objection, I thought it could be interpreted as er, part of the male anatomy. Or is that just my evil mind?

Nice artwork, Podge. (Superintendent = Headmaster.)

I suppose it would have been better to just ask what it was. It seems I stirred up a hornets nest Roll Eyes
My wife and I both looked at it and thought it was a picture of..... an "adult" toy. Eek
Bullets don't bug me.
Sorry if I upset you Podge. Wink

oh, ok. Smile
Thanks brucee you widened my vocalbulary by one more word.
And i'm glad you ok with it now.
I just struggle to see how you mis-interpreted it but i guess as soon as you know what it is you'll never try to interperate as something else.
Also sorry if i seemed a bit overprotective but thats just how i am. Like a cornered fox. All i can say is that i'm happy every one is ok with the situation now. I would just like to point out that i am a bit young to be posting pictures of "adult toys" Roll Eyes
Although i may change it because if you mis-interperated it, how many other people did!?

When I viewed your link to your picture, it is CLEARLY a bullet. And a very nice looking bullet at that. It is the smaller "Avatar" version that my wife and I unfortunately mistook as something unseemly.
I'm sorry I didn't just contact you and ask. What do I know? I have "Plankton" for a Avatar! Wink
BTW, I visited your site. I really liked your gallery. Smile

I used swift 3d and paint shop pro. Its two renders one with texture and one with wireframe loaded into paintshop pro (on 2 layers) and then just a bit of transparency added in certain places.

Swift Looks like a pretty good proggie gonna give the trail a shot. It can import the file types my Cad program uses so great.

I use Turbocad V8Pro/Photoshop elements/Cool 3D Production studio (this sucks the prossessor dry tho) for my graphics.

Thanks for the info
