Ok, I like the Special effects stuff, would like more Smile but am understanding that what I want is probably in Engine, which I haven't looked at yet.

Aside from that my reason for posting is that I find the trigger feature a little difficult to grasp/understand. Now I am not looking for explanations on how it works etc. just want it to be presented in a clearer manor, kinda like the wizard did/does in Spinner V1. It says straight out, for us idiots out there Wink , This is the picture that shows up when the mouse is over the object. I don't really know why you got rid of this nice V-easy to use wizard in preference of the pulldown, hich is ok to, just would like it to be clearer text wise on which is which in the little boxes.

Oh and, not sure if this may be already workable or not, but is there a way, or could you add, say, as an FX feature, something like OverLIb. Found here: Overlib Home Page
Or possibly any other little librarys that could be implimented into the page easily. Just a thought. Smile

Thanks in advance.

Was just thinking about this post and was thinking maybe adding an area under the Objects Editor => Link tab to add extra text into the Href link tag. Kinda like the "Import Foreign Object or Multimedia File" tool that you have.

That would allow easier editing of the links, for me anyways Smile, to enable things like overlib.js.

Thanks.

Hi MoonDog,

Feel free to download the Engine V2 beta if you want to take a look, you can find it here at the bottom of the page. If you want to see what you can do with Engine that you can't do with Spinner, you can look at the demos posted here.

As for the Mouse-Over FX, we are currently looking into that now and should have something for the next update.

As for the text effects when you mouse is over a link, there is a function to include a Assign a Title whenever you create a link, so that when the visitor to your site puts their mouse over a link a title appears.

Also, you can add extra text to your links now by simply adding it after the link - is this what you are wanting to do?

Didn't see the feature I was thinking about in Engine. (may not have dug deep enough though. Smile ) the feature I am thinking of is basically more fields in the link tab, in the object editor, in order to pass more parameters to the link. Kind of like the foreign object editor has.

As you can see in the pic, it has the parameters area, which parameters is spelled incorrectly btw Smile just noticed that, where you can pass the name and the value to the foreign object. Now it doesn't need to be seperate fields like in the pic, just maybe 1 or 2 single fields where in anything that gets put into it, gets placed into the html link tags.

Was just thinking this would be nice to have to pass parameters to the link. I used the overlib as an example. The title tag works ok, but if I want to spruce it up a bit I would need something like overlib to do so. Its parameters, however, are buried in the link and I need to go into the code and edit them in directly. This would save from having to go searching through the raw html and editing the correct info into the correct links. Which is what I had to do with the linked website below.

Example is here: My clan site for AC

As you pass the mouse over objects/links in the page, a text box pops up in the top left corner telling you what it is. This was done using overlib which has many parameters I could use in the link tag to change things about the text, such as colors, pics, font size etc. etc.

Like I said I am using overlib as an example here, but you get the general idea, at least I hope I am explaining clearly Big Grin . I am sure there are other librarys out there that use the link tag to pass parameters to them as well.

Thanks for your time Smile

Hi MoonDog,

I'll get more into your feature request in another post (maybe Harpo has something to say also? - or maybe not).

Anyway, keep in mind that you can accomplish the same thing with Spinner. I have posted an example here: http://www.virtualmechanics.com/test/page1.html (role you mouse over the images).

This took me all of 5 minutes to do - is this the type of thing you are trying to do?

Well yes that is the effect I was wanting to do. But that was just an example of parameter passing to illustrate what I meant. Now you know your product best and most likely/obviously know html, css, svg and whatever other "tehnologies" that are employed, better then I do. Does this feature seem like a redundancy? Obviously that one I was trying to do with overlib can be acomplished within spinner. Do you figure most others can be as well? Sorry I don't have any other examples off hand to illustrate further.

And BTW I would be interested in how you accomplished it...I've looked at the page source and grabbed the images and page and played, only for a few mins mind, and I cannot duplicate it yet myself Frown . At least it's not obvious to me Smile right now.

Thanks again.

Hi MoonDog,

I am not discounting the usefulness of the feature you requested, I am sure that it would be useful. Its just that in this instance I was able to do the Text over without the need of using another app. I would love to say that Spinner and or Engine can do 'everything' if I could.

Anyway, this is how I created those mouse overs:

Use the Text Editor to create the each of the individual text objects. Use the Quick Editor to change the Text Objects properties (this is how I gave them a different colored background and border). Now place them where you want them. Click on the Special FX menu and select Hide on loading and hide while playing.

Now go to the image you want to trigger the first Text Object. Click Special FX and select the image for the Trigger object, and the text for the Display object.

We have been doing some work in the mouse-over FX dialogue to make it a bit easier.

Cool....thanks for the descript.

Please don't take my last post the wrong way, I hope it's not coming accross wrong. I truely meant that you know spinner etc. WAY better then I do and I have only ever made basic pages in the past so my knowledge is very limited in areas of css, svg, jscript etc etc. I know of them, I can copy and tweak code to do what I want but I don't know the languages etc. to create something from scratch. I just don't want to be bothering anyone if this is an idea that would just be redundant. I don't think that you are trying to "brush off" the suggestion or anything. Smile

Obviously there are many features and ways to do things with spinner that I haven't even considered. I have only made the one site, posted above, so far with it, so there are MANY things I need to learn about spinner yet. Smile I was being totally serious and wasn't being sarcastic in any way. Am sorry if it came across that way.

Thanks for listening and the example, it is much appreciated. Smile

Just keep up the good work and I'll keep learning Smile

Hi MoonDog,

Don't worry, this forum is for posting questions exactly like yours - you did not come across as sarcastic at all! We definitaly appreciate your feedback on features, etc.

If that is your first site you are doing quite well - with any luck you'll be answering and giving advice to others on this forum soon Smile

Cool....

HEHE - Gave that a shot and was able to dup it. Little tough on centering the text, but I learned a few things that I didn't know before as well. Smile Course it would probably help if I went through the tutorials Big Grin More of a hands on person.

Thanks for the great help Smile
