Just spent over an hour and a half, working on a page, creating and laying out graphics, text, video, etc. Selected some objects, in order to group them, and box pops up, saying that SS has caused an error, and needs to close

Yes, as Bruceee mentioned, SiteSpinner should not crash. If you can replicate the problem, and let us know what version of the software you are using (available in SiteSpinner under Help > About), it would help us to track the problem down.
