A few people might agree that amoung the best uses for WYSIWYG editors is creating documents because of the easy layout options. Create, Preview, Print.

I would love to have a 8.5" x 11" and a 8.5" x 14" available in the Target Resolution settings.
Maybe a Portrait/Landscape radio button as well.

I work retail and I'm always getting positive feedback from people I tell about using web editors instead of MS Word/Works to create docs.

Anyone agree? Smile

Hi Mythwyn,

Thanks for bringing this up. There may be some issues here. First off, the size of the page in inches is dependent on the size of the user's monitor. For instance, if I create a page at 800/600 on my monitor (20"), it would be many more inches larger than it would appear on someones 16" monitor that was also set to 800/600.

For printing this might come in handy though (but then maybe that's what you meant?).

Yup,

Thats exactly what I ment it for.

Astound's Dynamite had this feature, when I bought that back in 98' I stopped using Word and Publisher for my docs, but Dynamite's rendering left a little to be desired.

Ulead's PhotoImpact has it too, so I moved to it, but it prerenders every individual characteras a seperate object, which is a real drain on the best of systems.

Now I have SiteSpinner, just be handy to have custom resolutions, and perhaps a "print" resolution setting. Open up a whole new market for you guys. Smile

OK, understood. We have had print problems in the past and recommend that printing be done from you browser. However, you have a point and we will look into it.

I have used SiteSpinner in the past to make Birthday and Valentine cards because the titles come out much better than in the paint programs I have (and not, as some have suggested, because I am too cheap to buy cards).

Buy I have a question: Why do you need to change the resolution? Is is just for the guides to show where the paper ends or do you use the relative positioning?

Yes, primarily for scale. If you have letter size scale, then you can work in inches as most printers do. This mostly for setting margins and page breaks, the two biggest problems in just using ???x??? resolutions.

My thought is with these types of settings, a person could easily make document templates. You be amazed how many people can't stand or understand laying out docs in Word. Working at BestBuy I see tons of them, and recommend WYSIWYG editors, always with possitive feedback.

If SiteSpinner was a Dual Purpose application it would (IMHO) due as well on the document side as on the web design side. Especially since other editors don't market in that fashion.

Just my 5 cents worth Smile
