Selecting multiple objects in SS in some cases is a very complicated task. I have seen several posts on the difficulties of selecting objects spread out on the work page. Drawing a box around the desired items many times is not feasible, especially if there are items within that page territory not desired for selection, or if some of the items are off the visible work page.

A more convenient way to select multiple objects is the very common and effective "click on with shift button held" method. This allows for individual selection and de-selection as needed. I know this shortcut is currently used in SS to select objects behind other objects, but maybe that function could be shortcut another way.

Unless there is a way to select and de-select individual items into a multiple selection scheme that I have not figured out, I would love to see this feature in SS soon.

Hi Larry

That doesn't do it on my end. It just mimmicks drawing a box around all objects in that work page area.

Most publishers, page builders, etc allow you to select multiple objects without "boxing" them based on their location. (Shift-click) If I have an item within that work page area that I do not want selected, there is no way to exclude it that I can see. I'm talking more about items being selected by clicking on them individually, adding them to(or subtracting them from) a group selection. Building a group selection without boxing if you will. This would be a vast improvement over the current method of grouping by "boxing" only in many cases. Of course having the option to group either way would be the cat's meow.

Correction Larry

I tried it again and it did not select non-clicked items in or around. It boxes around them but excludes them from the group selection. I apologize for missing this.

Still though the boxing is visually confusing and I would still like to see the objects left out of a box, and instead individually outlined to indicate selection. I just think it gives better indication of what items are or are not selected.

I've been using Sitespinner for about 5 years now and I still have problems selecting and grouping multiple objects... especially when ungrouping them and adding new objects. I would love you guys to create a new feature called something like "Object Group Creation & Management wizard". Once you had created and positioned your individual objects, you would no longer need to use your mouse: you'd simply assign explicit names to objects of interest. And you'd simply call up the Wizard each time you want to ungroup and edit individual objects and their parameters.
Sounds simple, doesn't it? But I bet it ain't!

Hi mikemesure,

I'll make sure that the Developers get your request. In the meantime, keep in mind that you can create a Permanent Group out of combined objects (select the objects and use the Permanent Group function on the bottom tool bar). Once you have done that, if you double click the group you will open the Object Editor. With this you can change the name of the group, as well as set a number of other object parameters.
