Selecting multiple objects in SS in some cases is a very complicated task. I have seen several posts on the difficulties of selecting objects spread out on the work page. Drawing a box around the desired items many times is not feasible, especially if there are items within that page territory not desired for selection, or if some of the items are off the visible work page.
A more convenient way to select multiple objects is the very common and effective "click on with shift button held" method. This allows for individual selection and de-selection as needed. I know this shortcut is currently used in SS to select objects behind other objects, but maybe that function could be shortcut another way.
Unless there is a way to select and de-select individual items into a multiple selection scheme that I have not figured out, I would love to see this feature in SS soon.
That doesn't do it on my end. It just mimmicks drawing a box around all objects in that work page area.
Most publishers, page builders, etc allow you to select multiple objects without "boxing" them based on their location. (Shift-click) If I have an item within that work page area that I do not want selected, there is no way to exclude it that I can see. I'm talking more about items being selected by clicking on them individually, adding them to(or subtracting them from) a group selection. Building a group selection without boxing if you will. This would be a vast improvement over the current method of grouping by "boxing" only in many cases. Of course having the option to group either way would be the cat's meow.
I tried it again and it did not select non-clicked items in or around. It boxes around them but excludes them from the group selection. I apologize for missing this.
Still though the boxing is visually confusing and I would still like to see the objects left out of a box, and instead individually outlined to indicate selection. I just think it gives better indication of what items are or are not selected.
