It can be useful sometimes for a small sentence people should not miss or text like "next page" or "click here" to have it blinking...

We can always use "edit code" but then needs to type all the other tags (size, font, etc...)

Could we have one day the attribute <blink> </blink> added in Site Spinner text functions ?

Thanks Smile

I find blinking text very annoying so would be delighted if VM never implements this suggestion Smile

I'm not even sure that browsers support <blink> </blink> any more. IE7 doesn't.

If you want a blink on a very few items what about an animated gif? I'm sure you will be discreet Smile

There are any number of code solutions too -- e.g. set a timer on your text object and make it alternately visible, then hidden. Example here.

To add to that, you can put tags right inside the text object by turning off the Text object's 'Convert tag brackets <>' option. It is in the text editor's options > options and filters.

Setting that filter off will treat brackets as html. Leaving it on will treat the brackets as text.

Hi Bruceee ! Razz

So do I but as I said "only for a few words that shouldn't be missed on ONE specific page", like an important link for example...

It's the same with all the effects, we shouldn't abuse of them but use them properly...
To embed a small audio file for example can be done if it's really according to the content of one specific page or almost as a joke but to embed midi files on every page of a website is totally irritating...same with big fonts, flashy colors or whatsoever...everything is a question of "proportioning" Smile

First, as a good VM user you should use Opera. Smile Second, I wonder what IE7 supports except bugs Big Grin
Microsoft announces IE 7 bug site
Microsoft flooded with IE7 bug reports

Personally I will still use Firefox (or sometimes Opera) as far as IE is still part of Windows and let any spyware get inside...I find Firefox 2 great in all circumstances...
Internet Explorer 7 Down – Firefox 2.0 Up

Yes of course but I prefer to use TEXT for Googling purpose. Even a GIF with ALT and TITLE filled properly is not seen by Google as strongly as TEXT...and if it's a link...
Thanks Bruceee for your help ! Smile

Thanks Harpo for the tip of 'Convert tag brackets <>' option which I didn't realize existed.
Could be useful even for other tags and other situations... Cool

You're right -- the key words are "use them properly". I can see a place for a discreet blink in the circumstances you state. Let's know if you come up with something that is easy to implement, and works in IE7, Firefox and Opera Smile

I still use IE7 as my primary browser. The bug reports you noted relate to the beta versions, which we could expect to be buggy. I have never used those, and can say that I am quite happy with IE7 public release which I have used now for about a month. Certainly an improvement over IE6.

As web designers, we are almost forced into using IE7 -- 80% of our visitors will be using it or earlier IE versions. So our sites have to work with that. Of course they should also work with Firefox (and Netscape, which is essentially the same) -- another 13%(?) of visitors. After that, we are into the rats and mice of the browser world which I mostly ignore. Sorry, I still put Opera into that category, but that might be about to change.... Smile
