Title Background... or Background of Title.

The default Title background is set to be the same colour of the Page background.

Can this be changed to have whatever colour is needed?

Try placing a shaded rectangle behind the title. The shading color of the rectangle will then be used as the title background. You should also be able to group the two so they render as a single object.

Don't be mysterious -- in what way does it not work as you would presume? Smile

I've just set a red title on a yellow background, both on a blue page background -- looks OK to me -- the title has a yellow background. Using SS Pro, Desktop only layout, in case that is relevant.

Did you preview the page?

The reason I have been looking at this is because I want to counter spamming problems with email addresses on my websites.

If you have an email address in standard text format, these can be found by the spammers.

On this particular page http://www.streamlinetaxis.org/contact.html there are a lot of email addresses in standard text. (This is currently how it is which will be changed shortly ina couple of days)

What I previously had was a jpg image of the email details which could not be spotted by spam-bots.

However, if I had to make any changes to a contact email address I would have to create a new jpg image.

I then considered that the email details could be created as a Title rater than text.

The white background of the layout is a Text-Object shaded white rather than a Shape-Object. (I prefer to use shaded Text-Objects than Shape-Objects).

I then have a yellow tiled-image for the main background.

I have actually managed to create what I require by setting the Page Background as white and at the same time using the yellow tiled-object for the background.

You can see this at www.apgraphx.co.uk/title/index.html if you go to page2 then I have done as was previously suggested which did not work for me.

Although I have achieved what I want I would like to know where I was going wrong with the previous suggestion.

Not sure how you did it, but I:
1. Added a blue background.
2. Added my title object.
3. Added my rectangle and added a yellow shade.
4. Grouped the two objects.

My result is http://test.lowtechgeezer.com/andyp/

The difference seems to be that I rendered my title as PNG-32 (transparent background) while yours is JPG.

I guess that when SS creates the final image as JPG, it is using the page background color at the time the title was created rather than the background below the title at the time the page is published.

My tests also show that PNG, PNG8 and GIF work by rendering the background color below the title at the time the page is published, but the anti-alias routines used with these formats is bleeding the blue background around the title characters instead of yellow, so there is still a problem with these file formats also.

I guess if you are using SS standard and try this, you are screwed since you do not have a PNG32 format as one you your choices.

I have changed the format to render the grouped objects to PNG 32 and it works, apart from being a bit fuzzy.

This isn't a problem now as I had worked out a different route as previously described.

Thanks for the input.

For Andy's original problem, it sounds like 'Render Background' was unchecked. In that case, the background area is filled with the solid page color. In formats that don't support transparency (e.g. jpeg) that color will be visible.
